Review: Ulladulla Headland

We arrived in the rain between Christmas 2010 and New Years to find a rather full but organised campsite. After check-in, we were met by a man on a golfcart who showed us our options of "campsites". We were offered the choice between a marked out site right next to the ablutions or the chance to pitch wherever we liked on a large patch or ground. We chose the area away from the toilets and pitched our tent. We found the area comfortable and shady with very easy assess to a lovely quiet beach.

While we were there the beach was full of blue bottles but this didn't stop the kids (or us!) from enjoying it to the full. A newly refurbished walk-way made access to Lobster Jacks beach quick and easy and we were surprised that it was always to quiet down there but this was probably due to the fact that most sites had sea views and the harbor and wave pool were just a short walk in the other direction so patrons really were spoilt for choice. The beach offered calm swimming conditions and many rock pools to explore. As well as shade during most times of day.

Over the peak season, the park had organised activities for the kids in the form of a petting zoo, craft tent, sports etc.  We found the playparks to be clean and well maintained. There were a few ablution blocks dotted around the park which ment you were near too far from one which is always a bonus with kids and useful at cleaning times.

On the whole the whole the campsite was quiet and peaceful in our section but the noise of the holiday camp would have been annoying had we been situated more centrally.

Ratings:
For visual appeal I give Ulladulla Headland 4/5 with a high proportion sites having a sea view.
For safety  I give Ulladulla Headland 3/5 with many sites having a steep incline down the cliffs towards the sea and no real fences to speak of.
For entertainment I give Ulladulla Headland 5/5 as there were many activities and so much do to in the area that you've find it difficult to be bored.
For cleanliness  I give Ulladulla Headland 4/5 as the park on the whole was clean and tidy but another clean of the showers during this busy period would not have gone amiss. The person whose job it was to get patrons out to the facilities at cleaning time could also benefit from a lesson in "catching more flies with honey!"

Overall a great place, we only left there a few weeks ago and the kids are already begging to go back. I think we could manage that!
